A chance meeting at the Cannes film festival led to a collaboration with Miriam Film that began in July 2026. The company’s founder, film director and consultant, Miriam Henri approached me to write a script for an exciting short film to promote a wonderful place called Discover Children’s Story Centre, in Stratford, East London.
The charity behind the centre, having recently undergone a transformative internal refresh, wanted a film that would capture the essence of storytelling through a child’s eyes. Having visited the centre numerous times with my own daughter when we lived nearby, I jumped at the chance to get involved.
As the film’s Director, Miriam brought together a fantastic crew who captured magical performances from the centre’s young visitors – all non actors! Tag-teaming with this, we wrote a non-linear flight of fancy narration, deftly brought to life by one of the centre’s regular storytellers. During the development process I voiced each iteration of the script up to post-production, which in itself was a fun process.
The film screened at the British Film Institute (BFI) at an evening hosted by Media Trust and The Mercers’ Company on November 4th 2026, and is now available on YouTube and elsewhere.
